The POnD Shelter

The POnD portable shelter is a self-sustaining, fully fitted living pod; suitable for disaster relief, a rural retreat, or everyday minimalist living. When not in use, the 6’x12’ lightweight hemp-fiber composite structure collapses down to a compact and secure 3’x6’, and requires no extra packaging to be transported. The pod collects rainwater, and has a low-flow shower and toilet. The unit’s Building- Integrated-Photovoltaic skin provides power for lighting, cooking, and refrigeration; or the unit can be fitted with optional high-efficiency propane fixtures and appliances. Water heating is provided by a non-metallic, unglazed, fiberglass reinforced polyester Solar Water Heater with an Integrated Storage System. The unit displayed is the first generation prototype, which is currently being refined.
