objet was commissioned to provide Schematic Design for a new café/lounge that was to give new life to an abandoned and dilapidated one story storefront. Two program items determined the aesthetic; the client liked deco and Historic Preservation stipulated that we had to preserves the bay window bump-outs. The café was to be a morning coffee, afternoon lunch, and evening drinks destination, with a rooftop yard. The storefront, along with two adjacent buildings were eventually sold for 7 million before the project made it through Design Development (property values are crazy in DC), so the little café project was scrapped.
